What time should I arrive and when is checkout?
Arrive anytime after 11AM on Thursday June 1st and unload everything you need for your creative space. You won't check into your room till 3PM, but you can stow your luggage until then. Check out is 11AM on Sunday June 5th. We need to clear out the sewing space by 1PM on Sunday.
What is the set-up for the retreat room?
Each attendee gets a 5ft. table, chair, & power strip to call their own. Shared space will include two ironing stations and a few cutting stations complete with cutting mats, rulers, & rotary cutters. You will not need your own ironing tool or rotary cutting tools unless you want to bring a small size cutting mat, pressing mat, & small iron to use at your own table. I will have spray bottles for water.
What else will be there to use for creating?
I'm bringing plenty of stabilizers, (cut-away, tear-away & wash away), plus a variety of blanks such as tea towels and napkins you can take and use as you please.
What to bring for embroidery, sewing, quilting, & crafting retreat?
Bring your machine(s), power cord and foot control if needed, fabric, notions, & patterns for any projects you want to work on, plus any special tools you need to keep your creativity humming along while you are there. I've been told the chairs are cushioned Bring a small pillow if you would like padded back support.
Make a list and check it twice :-) You can embroider, sew, quilt, craft on any project you like. I'm happy to help you in any way I can with your projects.
What about food? Free hot breakfast from the breakfast menu is included each day with your stay. Complimentary coffee, tea, and water provided in our sewing space. Onsite restaurant with full menu for other meals is available if you want to stay on site. CLICK HERE for the Tavern menu. I've listed some additional, popular eateries here on this page but I encourage you to explore the area according to your own personal tastes.
Optional: Bring a container of non-perishable snacks/munchies to share such as nuts, fruit, cookies, brownies, granola bars, etc. Please bring something you like to eat yourself in case you end taking it home. It's a good idea to bring a re-fillable coffee/tea/water cup.
Is there a schedule for the retreat?
Yes! I have lined up a few special activities to take place in our retreat room and hope that everyone can attend. Please see below:
Special Activity Schedule:
Other than the special activities planned, you are on your own to come and go as you please. Got to your room and take a nap, head out to the many wonderful places to visit in the area, eat at area restaurants, and spend time coming and going, settling in and out of your dedicated creative space as you please. Your sewing equipment and supplies can remain in the secure when you're away.
Last but not least, here are some links and a list of some places you may want to visit. This is by no means a complete list. Do a search for places to visit in and around Holmes County and you will be on the internet for a long time :-) Note that you will get a goodie bag from the hotel with coupons for local places so you may want to pick that up before exploring and shopping as I can't guarantee what will be included. Please check operation hours for anything listed here.
