- Begin with manageable sized pieces of 100% wool. Expect a ton of shrinkage. It's difficult to say how much but be prepared, you may end up with pieces that are one fourth their original size, maybe even smaller.
- Use the hottest water your wash machine can make. With a sanitary setting on my front load washer I was able to felt pieces that came out very dense and beautiful.
- More agitation is better than less so use a long cycle on your wash machine.
- Use a cold water rinse and then fluff the fabric in a dryer to help remove excess lint. Do not dry completely, instead air dry and then lightly steam press your fabric before using it for felting.
