Pashmina Mania ACROSS THE USA!

I love Pashminas for both cool and warm weather wear. You can pair a Pashmina with a dress, tank top and jeans, and all manner of both casual and dressy clothes. Perfect for chasing the chill from air conditioning, they are as useful in the summer as they are in the winter. I must confess, my collection of Pashmina scarves keeps growing! I find that these versatile scarves are just the added punch I need to accessorize my wardrobe all year long.

I am told that there are going to be a lot of Pashminas in the making this summer! How do I know? Sewing machine dealers across the USA are teaching savvy stitchers how to make their own embellished Pashminas as part of the 2014 Be the Difference Campaign. During the 2014 campaign many Sewing Machine dealers are offering hands-on classes in their stores. Class fees are then donated to the Be the Difference Foundation.

Eileen Roche, Editor of Designs in Machine Embroidery magazine created the hands-on classes, sewing Machine Dealers have devoted time and energy to participate in the campaign, and I have happily and wholeheartedly agreed to the use of two favorite embroidery designs from my Wrapped in Embroidery book.  Students sign up and have the opportunity to embroider and create four complete projects developed by Eileen. One of the projects is a Pashmina scarf, embellished with specially selected embroidery designs.

Those who attend the classes will experience the joy of machine embroidery and support a good cause all in the same day! If you haven’t heard of the Be the Difference Foundation, now is the perfect time do some research. This foundation exists to raise awareness, generate support, and provide hope to women affected by Ovarian Cancer. I invite you to visit their official site, bethedifferencefoundation.org for more information. This site contains valuable information every woman should know and take to heart.

These special classes are taking place now. I have friends that are hosting these events in states such as Pennsylvania, Illinois, Louisiana, and all the way out to the West Coast. I would suggest you call or visit a local sewing machine shop in your area to see if they are participating. If you have the chance to make a scarf during one of these events I would love to hear how it went. Drop me a line or send a photo. It would be great to see your Be the Difference Pashmina project!
